Assured Guaranty is a reinsurance company that specializes in global structured finance. As the leading provider of financial guaranty insurance, they guarantee scheduled principal and interest payments when due on municipal, public infrastructure and structured financings. With headquarters in Bermuda, the company also has subsidiaries in London, San Francisco and New York City.
When Assured Guaranty moved to its NYC location on two floors at 1633 Broadway, they asked The Atlantic Group to create a space that would meet their unique needs. Their new location is approximately 30,000 square feet and 275 people work there.
Assured Guaranty was transitioning its employees from high-paneled, traditional workstations to an open plan without dividing panels or overheads. They wanted to create a balance of an open, contemporary space with an environment that would also be highly professional, productive and efficient.
The Atlantic Group team was working within a tight timeframe, and they faced the challenge of managing complex overseas deliveries and then installing the furniture and workstations while the trades were still working onsite. “Our team created a detailed ship schedule and phased delivery to coordinate the timing and bring it all together,” explained The Atlantic Group’s Senior Project Manager, Matt Cooper.
“We consistently and openly communicated with the contractors, so any delays in construction were seamless, and we worked harmoniously to finish on time, ” said Matt.
At the beginning of the project, The Atlantic Group hosted a Chair Fair event where employees could test out chair samples and then cast their vote. “This event really got employees involved and excited about their move, and the change to their furniture,” said Matt.
As part of their solution, The Atlantic Group installed ergonomic Sit Stand platforms and monitors for employees. Each user has desktop power/USB modules for convenience and additional connection options.
“After the installation, we sent our in-house service tech to address issues and concerns and ensure a smooth transition,” said Matt. The Atlantic Group also arranged for the furniture and seating representatives to come and show the employees how to use their new furniture and chairs, so they can leverage the highest level of ergonomics.
Areas were created so Assured Guaranty could hold formal client meetings with flat screen televisions and smaller meetings on the fly, as well as a space where the staff could get together for informal social gatherings.
