Roger Abramson is the founder of The Atlantic Group. Roger’s business card reads Chairman, but he takes an active, hands-on role. He leads by example, overseeing sales as well as finance, recruiting, training and mentoring employees.
While working at another furniture dealership, he saw opportunities to improve the way dealers and the furniture industry worked together. Roger says, “I wanted to provide clients with a higher level of service and create a more efficient model. I realized the only way I could do that was to start my own company, so I founded The Atlantic Group.”
Roger enjoys hiring, training and mentoring his employees and watching them grow. He says, “It’s a great feeling to see the corporate culture that I created when I established The Atlantic Group develop. My goal was to foster a fun work environment where strong team building skills would grow organically. I’m happy to say, that hasn’t changed.”
To Roger, what makes The Atlantic Group unique is the family atmosphere combined with great people and their core belief in putting the customer first. Employees stay and clients stay. Roger says, “We’re open to new ideas and ways to improve our service. We encourage individuality, so we inspire and develop the entrepreneurial spirit within every employee.”
Going above and beyond
On a hot summer afternoon in the city, a client called Roger and told him that her CEO’s chair needed to be repaired before he returned from a business trip. Roger explains, “Luckily we had a sample in our showroom of the identical chair. But I couldn’t get a taxi, so I carried it in my suit and tie through the streets of Manhattan for 14 blocks to get it there in time. They are still a client 16 years later!”
The Atlantic Group’s Best Of Breed approach to furniture procurement is a unique method to merchandising and sourcing the best value product – high quality at the right price point – and always searching for niche manufacturers and low-cost producers. We also set up a working showroom to make the process more efficient. It saves clients time and money and allows them to see everything in one place without having to travel from showroom to showroom.
Roger is actively involved in community organizations including The Ecology Center, Petconnect Rescue and is a Pro-Bono Adjunct Professor at Fordham University.
When not working, Roger enjoys fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, yoga, tending to his garden and going to sports events.
